Baby, it's cold outside...unless you're wearing alpaca!

Anyone who wears alpaca will tell you, we're not afraid of cold temps, even the negative wind chills! Alpaca is the warmest fiber out there, and is guaranteed to keep even the coldest person warm and cozy!

With the single digit temps we've been having in New York, we especially wanted to mention our Barn Jackets. Extremely warm for extreme weather. This unisex jacket comes in a variety of browns and grays. It runs in men's sizes, so ladies order one size down. Made from 80% alpaca (rustic yarn)-20% wool with a sheepswool lining blend of 80% sheepswool and 20% acrylic, you'll be able to handle anything Old Man Winter throws at you. Combine it with a pair of fur-line mittens and Extreme Socks, and you'll think it's summer outside!

We also have a new sock from one of our co-ops to share with you! If the Extreme is a little too extreme, but you're needing a little more than what you find in our every day socks, the New England Fiber Pool Survival Sock is for you. More of a crew sock, it's made with pride in the USA, and we currently have it stocked in both men's and women's in your choice of four natural blended colors. We're sure you will love them!

We again want to thank everyone for helping pass the word about alpaca. There is no reason anyone should be cold when there is alpaca around! Stop in a visit us for all your winter needs; hats, gloves, scarves, socks....it's all here!

Happy New Year!

Wow - the holiday season flew by! It was so good to see many new people along with our "regulars". Candlelight night was so much fun. Not as "slushy" as the year before, which was nice! Carhartt has also made it out to the store a few times to meet new and old fans (he's building up his own fan club - people come into the store to ask about him almost as they do to shop!) Just a "flurry" of activity here!

Now that one holiday season is over, we've started looking at the next one! (Though I can't bring myself to change the decorations yet!) People have already been stopping in to pick up Valentine's gifts! We'll be getting in some really fun and new alpaca items you can give to your sweetie! (i.e. The alpaca robe we had last year now comes in COLORS!! We're hoping to have them in soon.) Items should start arriving in a couple weeks.

Since winter is here to stay for awhile, how about learning a new craft to beat those cases of cabin fever? We'll be starting classes soon in knitting, crocheting, felting, needle-felting and dyeing. The classes will included ones for all ages. (We have many under-10 fans.) Email or stop by the store for more information. We're hoping to have a calendar set up within the next week.

Speaking of knitting, don't know if you all are familiar with Knitmap.com, but both our store and farm are listed. You can find yarn stores across the country, see what services they offer in addition to yarn (classes, food, wifi), mark your favorites and leave comments. Just plug in a city, address or zip code, and *poof* you're on your way! For you tech-savvy knitters, there's even an iPhone friendly version of the site.

Also, we're still under winter hours: Closed Monday, Tuesday-Wednesday 10am - 6pm, Thursday - Saturday 10am - 8pm, Sunday 12noon - 4pm.

So stop by and see us if you're in the area, and best wishes for a happy, healthy and warm new year!
